Tenerife is home to Mt Teide. The volcanic rock is what gives Tenerife it’s famous blak sand beaches. On our all inclusive break, naturally we wanted to explore the Volcanic mountains.
We decided to take a tour bus up to the mountains. Our tour was called Teide By night and we were picked up in the early evening. Our tour included travel, a tour guide and champagne whilst we watched the sunset over the volcano.
The tour also included stargazing. Because of location of the Canary Islands and because there is very little light pollution, Tenerife is one of the best places to see the stars. They have a telescope at the top of the mountain . The sky was so clear. I have never seen so many stars! We could clearly see the milky way, and the tour guide pointed out some famous constellations. It was an amazing experience and we were lucky enough to see a shooting star and a satellite. I would encourage any tourist and travellers going to Tenerife, to travel up to the mountain at night, because its just such a magical experience.
